The NiSi Nano Soft-Edge Graduated IRND 1.2Filter helps to darken specific areas of an image, such as bright skies, whileallowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image.The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with asoft-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas. A neutraldensity filter with a soft-edged line of transition is particularly useful forimages that do not have a strongly defined transition between the sky and theforeground. The design of this filter incorporates a rotating mount to allowfor precise positioning of the gradation along the horizon line. Neutraldensity filters do not affect the coloration of the image and the densityprovides up to a 4-stop reduction in light from entering the lens.

 

The design of this filter has beenoptimized for use with digital sensors and to promote nearly flat attenuationof visible and infrared light. Due to imaging sensors' greater susceptibilityto infrared light compared to traditional film, color casts can occur whenphotographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times. To provideneutrality across the visible and infrared spectrums in order to eliminatecolor casts and ensure cleaner, truer blacks, one layer of NiSi Optical NanoCoating is applied to each of this filter's surfaces. The Nano coatingassociated with this filter also results in an improved beading effect when incontact with water or oil for greater cleaning efficiency.

 

This NiSi Nano Soft-Edge Graduated IRND 1.2Filter is constructed from H-K9L optical glass for increased clarity as well ascolor fidelity.
