Godox WT40D / WT40R LED Dive Tube Light ( Daylight / RGB )
The range varies in color temperature, with WTD models offering daylight color temperature (5,600 Kelvin (K), +/- 300K), while WTR lamps can be adjusted from 1,800K to 10,000K.
WTD dive lights include WT25D, WT40D and WT60D, offering different underwater outputs of 24W, 54W and 70W respectively.
In addition to different wattages, the lamps also vary in length and weight. The WT25D weighs 0.64kg and is 250mm long. The WT40D weighs 1.08 kg and is 380 mm long. The WT60D of the trio weighs 1.9 kg and is 640 mm long.
The two smaller dive lights charge via the USB Type-C port, while the largest charges via the DC-in port. When used underwater, the WT25D, WT40D, and WT60D have battery life of 1 hour, 1 hour 20 minutes, and 2 hours, respectively. The battery life is rated at 2 hours 20 minutes, 5 hours 30 minutes and 6 hours when used on the water.
Regarding water resistance, the dive light is rated for a depth of 40 meters . These lights include fluorescent physical buttons for controlling power, brightness, mode, color, and more, ensuring users remain in control even when their smartphone is unavailable. The glowing lights are also easier to see when working underwater.
When used on water, the light can be controlled via Bluetooth at a range of up to 25 meters .
As mentioned earlier, the WT25D, WT40D, and WT60D are "daylight" lights, which means their color temperature is locked at around 5,600 Kelvin. The lamp has a TV Lighting Consistency Index (TCLI) and Color Rendering Index (CRI) of 96. Based on these ratings, Godox's new underwater lights promise clean, consistent performance.
The color-controllable WTR lamps—the WT25R, WT40R and WT60R—have nearly the same physical design and dimensions as the WTD models. However, they have slightly different power and battery life.
The WT25R has a maximum underwater power of 20W, while the WT40R and WT60R offer 55W and 77W respectively. This means that the WT25R has slightly less power than its WTD counterpart, while the larger WTR lamp has more power.
The main advantage of WTR lamps is the user controllable color temperature. Users can adjust the color temperature from 1,800K to 10,000K. TCLI and CRI rating of 96. In addition to color control, WTR lights feature multiple lighting modes including CCT, HIS, RGBW, GEL, and FX.
The "daylight" version of the light offers 13 light effects utilizing different brightness values, while the colored RGBWW light includes 37 effects. Users can choose effects such as "Fire", "Fire Truck", "RGB Cycling", "Lighting", "SOS".
Lights specifically designed for underwater content creation are distinctive among Godox's wide range of products. To ensure optimal underwater usability and performance, WT Series lights automatically switch to high power when submerged, providing much-needed extra brightness.
Both ends of each light are equipped with 1/4" screw holes for attaching 1/4" to 1" ball joints and other accessories, hands-free for solo underwater shooting. Optional light clips are also available for more complex and complex lighting setups using multiple WT lights.
